Louisville’s Pitino will not participate in ACC media day
McGee resigned as assistant coach at University of Missouri-Kansas City, saying he could no longer do the job as he fights “false” allegations by Powell that he arranged 22 shows while coaching at Louisville.
“The university deserves a full-time assistant coach, and I am not able to provide that to the basketball team while the false allegations against me are being investigated”, McGee wrote to UMKC Director of Athletics Carla Wilson, according to NBC Sports.
After a lengthy blog post from Rick Pitino himself stating he wouldn’t resign, the school is announcing that the Louisville coach won’t attend ACC Media Day. Then from 2012 to 2014, McGee became UL’s director of basketball operations before leaving UL to be an assistant coach at UMKC to Richardson. In the OTL report, Powell mentions that her daughters, Lindsey and Rod Ni, were involved with the misconduct and had sex with former players. He had been on paid administrative leave since October 2, when the allegations surfaced. UMKC announced Andre McGee’s resignation yesterday. “And he needs to come out and tell the truth to his teammates, to the University of Louisville, to his fans and to his coaches that have taught him to do the right thing for years and allowed him to be part of something special here”. Speaking on one of the most popular morning shows, “The View“, Katina Powell stated McGee once told her, while at one of the escort parties, that Pitino “knows everything”. The former players and recruits who spoke with ESPN’s Outside the Lines said they attended parties at which escorts were present during that time period, and that McGee gave them money to tip the dancers and to pay for them to have sex.
The University of Louisville Foundation hired a law firm two days later to review the allegations.
‘[Andre] McGee was in control when it came to the dorm. “It was insane. It was like I was in a strip club”.
“There were seven or eight players and music from an iPod with speakers”.
“I knew they weren’t college girls”.
‘After the dancing, a few of them went into others rooms with players’. Even if they maintain they have no knowledge of the situation, it won’t stop reporters from asking about the mood around campus and the program following weeks of speculation over the scandal.
‘The Dad [of one of the recruits] said he more than likely will send his son to Louisville due to the “more than extra” activities.
