A special edition of popular block building and exploration game Minecraft encourages millions of fans to make a Windows 10 upgrade. We’re calling it Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta.
It’s also worth mentioning that those who don’t own Minecraft for PC/Mac and wish to purchase the Windows 10 Edition Beta will be able to do so via Windows 10 Store. Once prompted, follow the instructions, and Minecraft players should be off to the races. Users who don’t want to keep the game installed can simply remove it from their PC without hunting down other things to uninstall too. The Windows 10 Edition isn’t likely to change that, but it does bring the PC more closely in line with the other versions in terms of controls and cross-platform multiplayer. Mojang built the original version of Minecraft with Java, making it easy to mod and maintain. What’s more, Microsoft designed the Xbox app on Windows 10 to be a complete social experience. If you don’t own Minecraft for PC or Mac, the Windows 10 edition will be available in the Windows 10 Store at a discounted rate of $9.99 for a limited time. Mojang will also release a future update that will let the game connect to Pocket Edition that can be playable using devices running on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone operating systems.
