The Chief Minister was informed by the HoD and the team of doctors that the patients, Showkat Ahmad Dar and Zahid Ahmad Bhat, are being treated for burn injuries and are receiving the best possible treatment in the hospital. Expressing strong resentment over the growing communal activities in Jammu particularly in Udhampur, Shabbir Ahmad Shah said that they were playing with fire. “I am sure you will make Tagore Hall a seat of cultural awakening and invite performing artists from within and outside the state to perform and enthral the audience”, he hoped. Built in 1961, in memory of Rabindranath Tagore, the hall is a place of cultural activities and theatre in Kashmir.
Mufti Sayeed hailed the state for its rich diversity and inclusiveness.
The DFP Chairman said that the administration was responsible for the loss of properties to outside valley traders particularly transporters.
“The state saw complete cultural deprivation in recent past, however this government assures of reviving our cultural liberalism and for that we will support it fully”, he said. He said such poets should be remembered and introduced to the society.
He said that the school, which would be run by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), should be established on fast track basis.
The Tagore Hall has been renovated by JKPCC in record time, after it was devastated in last year’s floods.
