Low promises to ‘behave differently’ after being filmed with hand down trousers
There was much amusement on social media when clips emerged of Low apparently placing a hand down the front of his pants before raising it to his nose, during his side’s opening Euro 2016 fixture against Ukraine.
Speaking ahead of Germany’s second Group C match at Euro 2016 against Poland, the coach told the media: “I’ve seen these images”.
Germany coach Joachim Low has revealed his decision to start without a recognised striker in the 0-0 draw with Poland in Paris was inspired by their opponents’ aerial strength.
Low senses a changed landscape and cited England’s stoppage-time comeback win over Wales as further evidence of the battles his team might face if they are to add the European title to World Cup glory.
During a press conference, he said: “I saw the pictures as well and obviously sometimes you do things subconsciously”.
While Germany’s defensive operation will no doubt boost confidence going into their final group game against Northern Ireland next week, they struggled in attack with neither Mario Goetze nor Mario Gomez able to land a knockout blow.
“We will win against Northern Ireland”.
“The results are very close because for the teams that participate for the first time it is the tournament of their lives”.
“They invest everything they have and do what they are good at”. “In their first game they held back a bit against Poland, they didn’t play as they can, but in the second game they displayed unbelievable fight, lots of power and a huge amount of energy”. “But personally I feel very safe here”. The two teams met in qualifying with each side winning their home games.
“Quick players, who will also go deep with high tempo and they are probably the best counter-attackers I have seen in the past two years”. A few years down the line when I am finished and I look back on it, it will be extra special.
“The first match was a historic win over Germany, it was very important for us in terms of building our side”.
“From the knockout games on you can not have a bad day, you can not allow any mistakes, so it is too early to predict who will get to the final. It is too early to predict who will get to the final”.
