LSU athletic director: Miles will return as coach

Over the last ten seasons, no college football coach has been more entertaining than Les Miles and no program has been as consistently good as LSU.

Miles’ week leading up to the game involved rumors about boosters willing to give $15 million to buy him out, rumors so strong Miles reportedly told a group of boosters that Saturday’s game was going to be his last. LSU started off 7-0 before losing three-straight games including one to hated rival Alabama.

LSU will now await their bowl opponent.

Indeed, Miles said he did not know for sure whether he’d just coached his last game on the home sideline of Death Valley until after the game.

After two weeks of being stalked by an elephant in the room wanting to fire him, LSU football coach Les Miles rode a pair of “elephants” off into the sunrise.

The Texas A&M football team had a chance to make some history Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.

And outside of a hard-fought regular season win at Tuscaloosa in 2011, the times that Miles has managed to beat Saban hasn’t meant all that much in the bigger picture. “You have to win all the time and I get that”.

If Les Miles loses his job after Saturday’s game, it’s not the fault of LSU fans. Hanagriff observed that fan support for Miles has never been as high as when the Coach’s future was uncertain. Brandon Harris was 7 of 21 for 83 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. Most of his completions came on check downs to running backs, including a critical third-down swing pass to Leonard Fournette for a 17-yard gain that sustained the Tigers’ final scoring drive.

The Tigers (8-3) added field goals of 32 and 38 yards by Trent Domingue, but Domingue missed three others from 25, 50 and 46 yards.

A look into the decision making process reveals a weird series of decisions, most notably LSU administrators not deciding to retain Miles until the third quarter of the game. He won the BCS National Championship during the 2007 season. “We will see where we are and after sitting down and being able to look at it in depth and look at our season in whole then we will see what we need to do to try and get better”.
