LSU coach Les Miles addresses job status at Monday press conference
I can tell you that I don’t know anything other than, ‘Let’s go to work.’ Let’s rally the troops.
When expectations are raised and the team fails to succeed, fans will always want to place the blame on somebody.
“Obviously, I’m the coach, or something else happens, and obviously I’m not the coach”, Miles said at his regular weekly press luncheon on Monday afternoon.
“I think we’re going to have to see on that one”, Miles said of Dural’s injury.
With the way his first season is going as the all-powerful czar of the Philadelphia Eagles, you should expect to hear Chip Kelly’s name mentioned as a possible replacement for every major head coaching vacancy in the Western Hemisphere.
Tuesday marked the one-month anniversary of the LSU football team’s last victory.
Redshirt freshman offensive guard Will Clapp said Miles recruited him personally and paid an in-home visit to him while at Brother Martin.
But here’s the question we don’t know: Would he really leave Florida State for LSU?
For the LSU administration to leak a story of Les Miles being in jeopardy of losing his job the week of the Ole Miss game is shameful. Granted, I wasn’t in the room, but his mannerisms in the presser were no different than they’ve been the last few year’s I’ve been watching his press conferences. I would not be doing my job as the head coach at LSU… But Nick Saban and Alabama are about to win yet another SEC West title, yet another SEC championship, and yet another national title, and LSU types want that, too.
LSU (7-3, 4-3) has gone from a playoff contender, starting out 7-0, to a colossal disappointment. Rumors like these surrounding losing streaks in major college football programs are common, but the idea of LSU dropping Les is completely insane.
Miles is going to collect a fat buyout from LSU and is pretty definitely not coming to Maryland, but he’d be a great hire for virtually any school in the country, so why not dream?
Miles was asked if he met with administrators or athletic department officials about his job. While the decision has not been made final, all signs point to Miles already having one foot out the door.
By PETE IACOBELLI AP Sports Writer LSU’s Les Miles won’t read papers or watch TV this week prepping for Texas A&M. That’s a policy that I have.
Fisher, 50, was an offensive coordinator at LSU from 2000-06.
“To be honest, I personally think it’s wrong”. Miles also won 78% of his games in 11 years as head coach of the program, including capturing a national championship in 2007 and SEC titles in ’07 and ’11. “We have to eliminate the little mistakes we’re making as player, make the coaches look better by doing our job”.
Without a doubt, Jimbo Fisher is a very interesting option considering the success he’s had at Florida State (both on the field and in recruiting) and his ties to the LSU program.
But despite mounting media reports indicting the contrary, Miles should not be fired as head coach of the Tigers.
