LSU grinds out the win against Texas A&M
The Tigers did just that, picking up the 19-7 win over Texas A&M on senior night in Baton Rouge. He displays everything you’d want to display as a man and a coach. “You are our coach”.
LSU athletic director Joe Alleva told Miles this week that nothing had been decided and to focus on the Texas A&M game, a source told ESPN’s Chris Low on Saturday. From all the reports we were thrown, it looked as if they were ready to let Miles go following three straight losses after they were the No. 2 team in the country. Leonard Fournette broke the century mark again, and A&M is still 0-for-LSU since joining the SEC.
“I now know what it’s like to ride on an elephant”, said Miles, who also will not have to deal with the elephant in the room – his once shaky job status – as he had over the last three weeks amid a three-game losing streak. Miles has been a phenomenal coach in his 11 years at the helm of the LSU program, amassing a terrific 110-32 record and leading the Tigers to two National Championship games – including winning the title in 2007. “He [Leonard] said, “well ok”.
There’s a lot of people in Baton Rouge and LSU that he is close to.
Noted former LSU basketball player Shaquille O’Neal was on the sidelines for Saturday’s game between the Tigers and the Aggies of Texas A&M. Obviously, it is the end of the regular season right now. Fournette, whose 1,741 yards rushing in his sophomore season has set a single-season school record, added his 18th TD of the season on a late 4-yard run.
His players then carried him off the field following the final gun to a roar. “Everybody was hustling and giving it their all”. “He has had games with 200 or 250 yards, so I think we did a good job of containing him”. Since 2013, LSU hasn’t had a recruiting class ranked lower than sixth in the country, according to 247Sports.com. The secondary played shutdown man-to-man coverage on top of it. The linebackers got in the backfield and created chaos.
There will be plenty of time to figure out what happens next, including LSU’s bowl destination.
Following a five yard offsides penalty against the Aggies, two plays later, Fournette burst up the middle for eight more yards to pick up another LSU first down at the Texas A&M 20.
“I don’t think it’s as much special teams as it is taking care of the football”. Another freshman, Donte Jackson, pulled off an acrobatic interception. After a three yard Fournette run got the ball back to the Aggies 21, Harris overthrew John Diarse on a fade pass to the back of the endzone.
LSU had the opportunity to take the lead early in the second quarter, but Domingue’s 25-yard field-goal attempt bounced off of the left upright.
The Aggies, who led 7-6 at halftime, scored their lone TD on Allen’s 8-yard, third-down pass over the middle to Ricky Seals-Jones.
Another long first half drive for the Tigers ended in disappointment.
