LSU reinstates player arrested for felony domestic abuse
LSU offensive lineman Jevonte Domond will be allowed to practice with and play for the Tigers despite a pending charge of battery and domestic abuse, coach Les Miles said Wednesday.
Domond, who is 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, remains charged with battery and domestic abuse, according to Nola.com and The Times-Picayune. She further alleged that he slammed her on a couch before, after she pepper sprayed him twice to no avail, he followed her to the police station.
“He’s in position to compete to play”, Miles said. There’s also reportedly a witness to the incident. “We’re letting the disposition of whatever entanglement he’s involved in run its course”.
At the time of his arrest, Domond told police that he and his fiancée “got into it” but denied strangling or biting her. He told the officers that he picked up his fiancée while being pepper sprayed to get her to stop and that the injury on her hip was from the fall and not from him biting her.
“Back in May, Miles had said, “[h]e’s suspended from the team.
East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore, who declined to pursue charges against three other LSU football players earlier this month, said earlier this week that the case against Domond is still pending.
Domond, a junior, transferred to LSU from Glendale Community College prior to last season.
Miles dismissed defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao in July after his arrest for allegedly punching a woman and trying to take her purse. last week, he reinstated quarterback Anthony Jennings and defensive back Dwayne Thomas when charges for unlawful entry of a dwelling were dropped.
