Luck, Hilton active for Colts; Wilkerson to play for Jets
In the NFL tonight, the Indianapolis Colts travel to NY to take on the Jets for Monday Night Football. And, embarrassing. And mostly downright pitiful.
The Colts went down to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their last game, with Indianapolis failing to find any kind of offensive rhythm in the absence of their starting quarterback Andrew Luck.
“Not unless Bryce gets hurt”, Bowles said.
Luck completed 15 of 18 attempts for 193 yards and three touchdowns.
Indy scored again on their ensuing drive, and led at the half 24-3.
“I thought they kicked our ass”, coach Todd Bowles said. We just haven’t gotten them.
Running back Matt Forte is unsafe on the ground as well as catching the ball out of the backfield, and big wide receiver Brandon Marshall is the sturdy presence they’ll turn to in order to keep the chains moving. You know? And go back to, this is what I do. The boos only got louder.
“He played extremely well”, Pagano said.
The offense was booed, too.
NY will blitz often and leave its corners in one-on-one coverage. The other came when two men ran into the field during the second half and were aggressively tackled by stadium security.
I suppose to try and add some excitement to the dismal affair in East Rutherford, two fans without shirts ran onto the field during the game. “I’m going to do the same thing and keep grinding like I always do”. The Jets have nothing to motivate them but a last chance to look good in the national spotlight. What was curious is Bowles said he had made up his mind before the game Petty would be the starter for the final four games of the season regardless of how things went Monday night. The second guy’s luck wasn’t much better, as the security guard who took him down looked to devour him.
Petty finished 11 of 25 for 135 yards with a touchdown and was intercepted twice.
“I don’t think you’re going to replace Earl Thomas”.
Fitzpatrick was 5-of-12 for 81 yards and an interception, and the Jets trailed 31-3.
That approach is exactly what’s helped the Colts rebound from a loss that could have sunk their season.
“I didn’t get it done”, Fitzpatrick said.
The Colts defense has been brutal this season, ranking 30th in total defense. The Colts know what they need to do to join the party. “There was nothing positive”.
The rookie had appeared in just two games this season prior to tonight.
Meanwhile the Colts are 5-6 but still have a chance of making the postseason. “In the years prior we’ve had games where we play really hot and played really low”.
The Jets’ offense, meanwhile, has also faced some inconsistencies this season, but has key veterans across the board that have a history of getting the job done against the Colts, particularly.
For now, the focus turns to the next game. “This was a game we had to get for next week”.
