Ludi Lin cast as Black Power Ranger in Lionsgate’s ‘Power Rangers’
Though the Rangers of this reboot will be neither mighty nor morphin”, early reports suggest that they will still be possessing of all the power that endeared them to a generation of kids who sat rapt before glowing TV sets in the “90s.
“Monster Hunt” actor Ludi Lin has signed on to star as Zack a.k.a. the Black Ranger in Lionsgate’s “Power Rangers“.
Another Ranger was recently cast for the Power Rangers movie bringing the number to three.
It’s official! Dacre Montgomery will play the Red Ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers movie.
“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie” was the only film that starred series’ original cast and brought-in over than $66.4 million globally back in 1995.
Lionsgate & Saban Entertainment have announced they’ve finally found their Red Ranger. “Welcome Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger in the 2017 #PowerRangersMovie!” the Tweet read, revealing a photo of the actor in the trademark Ranger overlay.
Power Rangers will begin filming in January 2016 and is scheduled for release on January 13, 2017. When are we going to hear about the Green Ranger, though?
The film is being directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), based on a screenplay written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X:Men: First Class, Fringe).
Like the original show, the new team of Power Rangers would unite to save the world from destruction and battle huge mechanical vehicles known as “Zords”.
The “Power Rangers” movie is an adaptation, or a retelling, of the 1993 TV series.
The role marks Montgomery’s first major role in a studio film.
A change in casting decisions rectifies this problem, but established Power Rangers history might have already provided a solution 20 years ago.
