Luis Suárez strikes late winner to spare blushes for Barcelona
FC Barcelona superstar Neymar has hit out at the fans, who were heard jeering and whistling at the team during last night’s Champions League encounter against Bayer Leverkusen.
“It’s a shame for football“, Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voeller said. “You simply like to watch him play”.
Manager Luis Enrique described the injury to Iniesta as “terrible news”, but is happy with the effort of the rest of the depleted squad’s performance.
These injuries are very complicated and both he and Shaw will be lucky if they can return to their previous form.
Enrique admitted it is impossible to replace Messi.
We were fearless, we defended compactly, we had the chance to score the second goal but then Barcelona upped the pressure, they scored the equaliser and quickly Luis Suárez scored a brilliant goal.
However, Luis Enrique is confident the 28-year-old will be fit for Barca’s first meeting with Real Madrid this season on November. 21 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
After the half time, Barcelona came out to the pitch, possibly under the effects of locker-room talk from Luis Enrique, and after the defense felt alleviated following Hernandez’s substitution, to win the game.
“Time is in his favor”. This injury was sustained after Messi struck the ball and was blocked by Pablo Bigas, according to USA Today Sports.
“Not having the world’s best player hurts but it also motivates us”, added the Croatia worldwide.
“It’s a major loss but now we have to become even stronger”.
His ability to create chances out of nothing earned him many assists while playing alongside Daniel Sturridge at Liverpool, and was also the key to form a formidable attacking trio with Lionel Messi and Neymar last season.
Arsene Wenger side dragged back into it with a second half equalizer by Alexis Sanchez, but the Greek side claimed victory when Alfred Finnbogason smacked the match-winning goal. It said: “Tests carried out on Leo Messi have confirmed that the player has suffered a tear in the internal collateral ligament of his left knee”.
Barcelona first challenge without the Argentinian superstar will come in the form of a Champions League match against Group E leaders Bayern Leverkusen. Meanwhile, Leverkusen makes the trip fresh from a 3-0 victory at Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga Saturday.
Defending champions Barca have played three La Liga matches heading to the match against Leverkusen and are 2-1 in those previous outings.
