Luis Suarez and Neymar Seal the Victory for Barca in El Classico
Luis Suarez scored twice with Neymar and Andres Iniesta also on target at the Santiago Bernabeu as Barca eased to an emphatic Clasico victory over their biggest rivals.
When Real did create chances, they were thwarted by the inspired Claudio Bravo, who single-handedly ensured Barca would leave the Bernabeu with a clean sheet.
Far from riding on the euphoria of his team’s 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique warned Monday that “flattery weakens” and said the club still had not won anything.
FC Barcelona turned the latest edition of Spain’s Clasico into a laugher, crushing Real Madrid 4-0 here Saturday evening to move six points clear of the Blancos in the La Liga standings.
That allowed the pro-Barca dailies: Diario Sport and “El Mundo Deportivo” to celebrate their side: “Barcelona destroy Real Madrid” headlines, while El Mundo Deportivo said the game was “A Symphony from Barcelona and a chorus of boos for Real Madrid”.
Ronaldinho was given a similar reception in a La Liga game at Real’s giant arena on November 19, 2005, when the Brazilian forward netted two superb goals in Barca’s 3-0 success and the home fans stood to applaud. After that it became more and more hard to find a way back into the game, mentally speaking.
He added: “I decided it during the week and I wanted to get feedback from him and it was a relatively easy decision to make, and Leo also understood it”. We wanted to push, attack, get the ball fast. “There is a long way to go, it’s not decisive at all but we are going away very, very satisfied”, the Barca captain added. After the game, I must say I chose the wrong XI. “What I’m most concerned about now is getting the team to recover mentally in time for the next match”.
Barcelona took the lead just after eleven minutes as Sergi Roberto passed the ball to Luis Suarez who made no mistake putting the ball next to Real’s goalkeeper with a first-time shot.
Suarez said: “We are six points up against a direct rival but there’s a lot left”.
