Lukasz Fabianski howler sends Chelsea 11 points clear
Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with a dominant 3-1 win over Swansea on Saturday.
Kante is seeking a second successive title after his summer move to Stamford Bridge and Conte is willing to “risk” the sack following the departures of the last two title-winning bosses – his predecessor Jose Mourinho and Ranieri.
Both Kante and Fabregas are likely to end the season with Premier League winners’ medals around their necks as Conte’s men are now a whopping eleven points clear at the top of the table with just 12 matches left. “First of all, I think it is important to finish this season in the best way and if we are able to reach this dream, for me and for the players”. If Fabregas is given more starts this season he will likely end up getting the most assists in the league.
Despite defeat at Stamford Bridge, Fabianski said Swansea could take encouragement from their performance against Antonio Conte’s side.
Fabregas said: ‘Experience and maturity give you this because in the beginning when I didn’t play, I told people not even to speak to me because I was really upset.
“I think it is clear from what has happened to the managers who have won the title that football has changed“. Also to imagine the players to decide your destiny is not good.
‘As a player I’m someone who wants to play with the ball, maybe not so much the defensive side.
Fernando Llorente’s powerful header on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Fabregas’ early goal, with Chelsea requiring late efforts from Pedro and Diego Costa to seal all three points. And while other players of his status might have agitated for a January get-out in search of more regular first-team selection, Fabregas has preferred patiently to wait his chance.
“The last two years were memorable working with Carlo (Ancelotti), and I won the double under Guus (Hiddink) which is very rare”. I don’t remember one moment we suffered in the game.
“This is the right way to continue”.
“We have had some really hard games away from home but we have also had plenty of good results”.
Chelsea grew into the second half, though.
Swansea manager Paul Clement complained that his side were denied a penalty when César Azpilicueta handled the ball at 1-1. John Terry and David Luiz and Nemanja Matic are the ones I know.
