Lupul, Reimer lead Maple Leafs to 4-1 win over Stars
Jets break out The Leafs tied the game at 2-2 on a goal by Leo Komarov, his 6th, mid-way through the second and battled hard in the third.
The Leafs got their second win of the season at home against the Stars on Monday night in what was easily their best performance of the year and now they will look to follow that up with another solid outing against a Canadian rival. His longest skid spanned 11 consecutive games during the 2013-14 season. The difference this time around, however, is he’s making a conscious effort to shoot the puck more. “I wasn’t really quite sure what was going on”, Kadri said reporters after the game.
Although he is now ninth in the National Hockey League with 48 shots on goal, Kadri had only two shots on Wednesday. His linemates were beneficiaries of chances he created.
Five minutes later, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Jets traded goals within 40 seconds of each other.
This isn’t Bernier’s first injury, as the butterfly-first netminder has never finished a regular season with 60 games played due to various groin and lower body issues.
“I thought he played excellent, I thought he played one of his best games”, said Leafs head coach Mike Babcock.
When you outplay a team as badly as the Dallas Stars did but still wind up getting shortchanged on the power play differential, it’s usually a result of undisciplined play or reputation calls. “He’ll shoot the puck and he’ll score in bunches”.
Coming into this game goaltending seemed to be lopsided in favor of Dallas.
Alexander Burmistrov atoned for two bad penalties, and the Winnipeg Jets made good on their vow to respond after a clunker in Montreal. “If you’re him, you want to play every night, so to me you play good and you get to start the next game and you make sure you play good again and you get the start after that and you just keep going that way”. It is a fun club where we send Nazem Kadri old celery in the mail and create the fictitious Kadri Bed & Breakfast on Yelp only to give it really unfavorable reviews. He also drew two penalties in the third period.
James Reimer made 30 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Jets on Wednesday and could start in back-to-back games against the Red Wings at Air Canada Center on Friday and in Washington on Saturday or could split starts with 21-year-old rookie Antoine Bibeau, who is on emergency recall from the AHL Toronto Marlies. Dustin Byfuglien gave the Jets a 1-0 lead at 3:41 of the first period when he took a pass from Mathieu Perreault. Dallas countered by dumping pucks in directly on Reimer as much as possible, seemingly content to try their luck on a faceoff in hopes of getting a few offensive zone time.
The coach’s challenge will be on the general managerss meeting agenda on November 10 in Toronto, but will likely come more from the goalie interference viewpoint and just a more general discussion on how everyone feels the new video review mechanism is working.
