Luther Strange takes aim at Mo Brooks in leadup to Senate primary
On Wednesday President Trump took to twitter to continue his criticism of AG Jeff Sessions, this time questioning why acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe has not been replaced. So this is a good moment to explain why Mr. Sessions felt obliged to recuse himself and why it was proper to do so.
“I don’t think that’s the nature of the relationship, ” Sanders said.
Top Republicans rallied to the defence of Mr Sessions. On Tuesday, the Justice Department said it would now withhold grant money from so-called “sanctuary cities” – communities that do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
Sessions said last week that he would remain in his position as long as it was appropriate. Sessions was the first sitting member of the Senate to publicly endorse him.
Trump’s ongoing efforts to impede the investigation through both public and private threats and irresponsible action are deeply inappropriate, to say the least.
Mr. Sessions went to the White House Wednesday, but without meeting the president, according to sources from the White House.
As Trump hesitated in pulling the trigger to fire Sessions, a growing chorus of the attorney general’s supporters said the president should keep Sessions on and stop undermining him in public.
This marks Trump’s 14th news conference, 13 of which were also joint sessions with foreign leaders.
Unusual and his allies have come after Brooks in attack ads labeling the CD 5 Republican as a flip-flopper who is not resolute in supporting President Donald Trump, who has 55 percent support among Alabama voters according to a recent Gallup Poll.
In addition to Lewandowski, another prominent Trump surrogate has implied the same about Sessions: communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Tuesday that Trump “probably” wants Sessions gone.
Corker also issued a warning of sorts to the Trump White House, saying he can not believe the president and his staff would be having serious conversations about removing Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
President Donald Trump slammed Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday for being “very weak” on Hillary Clinton’s emails, said he was working on a “major” trade deal with the United Kingdom and congratulated his son-in-law Jared Kushner for doing “very well” in “proving” he did not collude with Russian Federation to influence the election. “Sessions has recused himself from Clinton-related matters, citing his involvement with the presidential campaign as one of Trump’s major advisers”. If Trump is looking for someone to take a hand in the Russian Federation investigation, Rosenstein is unlikely to oblige. I don’t think any amount of individuals whispering in either guy’s ear is going to solve it.
