Lyon confirm £30m Arsenal bid for Alexandre Lacazette
Lyon’s valuation of Lacazette is reportedly around £40 million, a reasonable asking price in the current market and more than affordable for a club of Arsenal’s stature, per Steve Stammers of the Mirror.
West Ham have been told they will have to fork out at least £40m if they want to sign Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.
The newspaper suggests that the French outfit had made this clear before we tabled our £29.3m bid so it looks like Wenger has chose to test the water with a low opening offer and you’d expect us to return with an improved bid soon.
The 25-year-old France global was in dazzling form during the 2014/15 season, scoring 27 goals in 33 league games, which contributed to Lyon’s charge at the top of the table and ensured he finished as the league’s top goalscorer.
Arsene Wenger said at the start of the summer he won’t buy more than three players.
Lyon have confirmed that they have rejected Arsenal’s €35 million bid for Alexandre Lacazette. “Until then, I can’t say much more than that”. On the transfer front, I think the best [option] is always to keep as secret as possible. Arsenal will have to improve their bid in order to get their man, but this is a heartening sign that we’re one step closer to strengthening the forward line.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will return with an improved offer to sign the France global striker.
Arsenal have been looking for a new striker this summer, after Danny Welbeck sustained a long term injury late last season, which rules the Englishman out till around November.
Lacazette, however, responded by telling them he would only join a club in the Champions League if he leaves Lyon.
