M&M launches a new variant of The New Age XUV500
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a leading SUV manufacturer, on Wednesday announced the launch of the Automatic variant of the New Age XUV500.
After launching an automatic version of the XUV500, Mahindra has revealed that it will soon launch an updated version of the Scorpio with a similar 6-speed gearbox. Thrill-seekers are also equipped with the option to switch to the AWD option while the auto also features two additional uphill climbing modes for hilly terrains. It also comes with a manual transmission mode that can be put in operation by slitting the gear lever to the left of the “Drive” mode.
Mahindra has not used a conventional straight shift pattern and has instead, chosen a gated type shifter to house the gear lever.
Based on the success of The New Age XUV500, Mahindra and Mahindra launched the automatic transmission of the sports utility vehicle today, which will be available on three variants of the New Age XUV500 – W8 FWD and W10 FWD & AWD. The adaptation will be necessary as unlike the XUV500 which has a transverse or east-west orientation for the engine and gearbox due to its front wheel drive setup is different from the Scorpio which has a north-south or longitudinally mounted engine due to its rear wheel drive setup. It is available with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive is offered as an option. This includes a sunroof, six-way power adjustable driver’s seat, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six airbags, all-four disc brakes, reverse parking camera with sensors, ESP and Hill Hold/Descent control.
