MA politicians react to Trump mocking Christine Blasey Ford at rally
The fight over Kavanaugh’s nomination to a lifetime job on the top United States court comes against the backdrop of the #MeToo movement fighting sexual harassment and assault that has toppled a succession of powerful men.
Flake, a retiring Republican senator from Arizona, is another key vote in Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
Schumer made his request in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. He pledged that the full Senate would begin voting on Kavanaugh’s nomination this week.
The strategy came as the FBI conducts a limited investigation into allegations of sexual assault by Kavanaugh but with great uncertainty about whether the probe will unearth anything conclusive by the end of the week, when Republicans are pressing for a vote. Dudley reportedly denied the allegations.
Mr Trump’s remarks came as he reiterated his support for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who is now facing sexual misconduct allegations by several women.
She said Trump was “pointing out factual inconsistencies”.
Trump said the Democrats are too “dangerous” to trust with power and urged his supporters to get out and vote Republican.
Democrats have seized most recently on Kavanaugh’s indignant, emotional testimony before the Judiciary Committee to question whether he has the temperament for a lifetime appointment on the nation’s highest court.
The moves are certainly politically risky as Democrats have moved to galvanize female voters since the 2016 Women’s Marches, and polls show female voters’ support for Trump slipping.

Garrett’s lawyer, William Sullivan, says Garrett has voluntarily cooperated with the FBI’s reopened background check of Kavanaugh and has finished his interview.
The FBI will pass its findings to the White House, which will give them to the Senate.
During a Sunday interview on “60 Minutes” Flake admitted that he would not have called for the investigation if he were running for reelection.
Some senators who are considered swing votes on Kavanaugh’s confirmation, such as Republican Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who has played a pivotal role in the nomination battle, was scheduled to appear as part of the Forbes Under 30 Summit, The Boston Globe reported.
Responding to those concerns, Trump said at a press conference he wants the FBI to do a “comprehensive” investigation and “it wouldn’t bother me at all” if agents pursued accusations made by the three women. She was appointed by Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Senator Thad Cochran, who retired in April this year. Also interviewed were two other people Ford said were present but in a different room: Patrick “P.J”. I don’t know. But I had one beer.
“We can’t have this on the court. I don’t know”, he continued. “What motivated New York Times reporter to write this ridiculous story?”
After Thursday’s hearing where both Kavanaugh and Blasey Ford testified, Cornyn asserted: “It’s time to vote”. Trump is unlikely to make direct appeals to the lawmakers on the fence, as he does not have particularly close relationships with those senators. Graham said in an interview at the Atlantic Festival on Wednesday that while he thought Mr. Trump’s comments were unhelpful, he did not necessarily disagree with the substance. It was not immediately clear if Kavanaugh dropped out due to anticipation that he would be serving on the Supreme Court.

“Mr. Judge completed his Federal Bureau of Investigation interview”, attorney Barbara Van Gelder said in a statement. Ford said she “went out with” Garrett for a few months in high school.
“It’s a damn sad situation”, Trump told the roaring crowd on Tuesday, after chants of “We want Kavanaugh! Out of the woodwork came one uncorroborated allegation after another, each seemingly more outlandish than the last”.
But Democrats said that report isn’t good enough.
He also touched on the allegations brought forward by “sleazebag” lawyer Michael Avenatti.
