Macaulay Culkin Reprises His Home Alone Role In This New Series
2015 seems to be the year of reboots and reunions, and Home Alone is no exception. The John Hughes-directed Macaulay Culkin franchise is full of elaborate pranks, family-friendly humor, and always a feel-good takeaway.
Now in his 30s Kevin stands in for his wife who works as a driver for an on-demand vehicle service, DRYVRS, a company which resembles Uber. The first episode, which is available on YouTube, clocks in at just over five minutes but packs a serious nostalgia punch as Culkin appears to be reprising his most beloved character.
Culkin jumps in the back and as they drive, reveals the emotional toll it took on him when his family left him behind to go on vacation twice.
Kevin adds: “I had to fend off my house from two psychopath home invaders”. I’ll spare you the details but let’s just say no Talkboys are involved. It’s the kind of traumatic incident you’d think would leave a lasting mark on a kid, and now an unofficial Home Alone sorta-sequel suggests, in fact, that it did. I mean, I still have nightmares about this bald weirdo dude…I don’t even know. Gems from the short include “But they forget me, the cutest f***ing eight-year-old in the universe”, McCallister’s constantly present cigarette, and how much Culkin resembles a Steve Buscemi character.
Things then get real creepy as Kevin exacts revenge by torturing the carjacker in an abandoned garage.
Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
