Macbeth Trailer: The Rise and Fall of a King
One of our most anticipated films of the fall season has just given us another reason to get excited. A brand new trailer for Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, has been released.
From the producers of The King’s Speech comes the newest adaptation of Macbeth, the classic Shakespearean drama. At the same time, his wife is driven to madness.
On the off chance you’re not familiar with the compelling age-old story, here’s the official synopsis for Macbeth.
An ambitious effort, director Justin Kurzel is attempting to film the Scottish play that has bedeviled filmmakers from Orson Welles to Roman Polanski, who in this writer’s estimation have yet to make a good filmic version of the Scottish play.
Jacob Koskoff, Michael Lesslie and Todd Louiso wrote the script with Laura Hastings-Smith producing alongside See-Saw’s Iain Canning and Emile Sherman.
In the preview, Fassbender’s Macbeth is shown seizing control, with his manipulative wife, played by Marion Cotillard, plotting his rise.
Macbeth premiered at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year to positive reactions from critics. Also cast are The Man From U.N.C.L.E.s Elizabeth Debicki (Lady Macduff), Mission: Impossible, Rogue Nations Sean Harris (Macduff), Harry Potters David Thewlis (Duncan), Transformer: Age of Extinctions Jack Reynor (Malcolm), and Child 44s Paddy Considine (Banquo).
