Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Turn Their ‘Downtown’ Video Into A Musical
It’s a bluesy record filled with horns that stays very true to the Macklemore brand and the Ryan Lewis sound.
Channeling 1980s flava, Macklemore and Ryan manage to mash up everything thing you enjoy about funk, hip-hop, and pop, and put it in one record.
“Downtown,” the second single from his forthcoming album features collaborations with rap pioneers such as Grandmaster Caz, Kool Moe Dee, and Melle Mel.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis just dropped the fresh music video for his or her song “Downtown!” The upbeat, funky jam is a little bit “Thrift Shop” and, at times, a little Queen with dramatic piano playing and belting vocals.
Griffey has a super brief cameo is the new Macklemore video “Downtown” – wearing his old Seattle Mariners uniform. There is also a gang of moped riding rappers.
The video is for a song called “Downtown”. The best part of the whole weird thing, though, is the vocals from Foxy Shazam singer Eric Nally (who, we’ll admit, we briefly thought was the Darkeness’ Justin Hawkins).
