Mad Birds 2 reaches 1 million downloads in 12 hours
The company is now going in a direction with a direct sequel with raging Birds 2, and here are a few tips tricks and news about Rovio’s latest game, available for download free on the App store and PC. The move is a somewhat surprising one, since some of its earlier games carried fees at launch. I haven’t completed any one of them.
After ten sequels and a handful of spin-offs it is hard to believe that the raging Bird franchise has not run out of steam, but Rovio’s disgruntled birds have managed to once again top the mobile gaming charts. The character models are crisp, the levels look great, and the detail exceeds that of any previous version. This isn’t just mad Birds with new levels, but there are several changes – small and large – that flip the script for the better. So once you decimate a set of pigs in their precariously engineered structures, the game seamlessly moves forward to a new screen in that same level, where a new band of defiant hogs awaits your assault. This has a drastic impact on the way you’ll play the game, as previously if you got stuck in an mad Birds level all you had to do was load up a YouTube video of a specific level and shoot the birds just like they do. There are different worlds and levels and stages inside those levels. With billions of downloads, it’s safe to assume almost every human on the planet knows what you do in an mad Birds game… According to PC Mag, the visuals have been overhauled and the gameplay has multiple stages in each level. That’s mad Birds [$0.99]. Of course, like most good free to play games, all of this is completely optional.
Mad Birds 2 is a great time sink and the new features make it feel like a fresh, albeit familiar, experience. Unlike the first game, you can choose the order that the bird come in. I barely tried the Star Wars version. Players can also challenge each other in an online worldwide leader-board. There, users can employ their birds and spells to take each other on and see who does the best job of solving game puzzles. As levels are now chapter based as well, games will not be inclined to do that.
Raging Birds 2 is available on the Apple App Store for free.
Some have found the mad Birds 2 in-app purchases a bit of a surprise with players able to pay real money to purchase Gems and lives. And even if you aren’t passionate about the game, expect to find yourself buying at least some of the upgrades. That’s where another new feature comes in.
Speaking of retries, potentially the most controversial change in raging Birds 2 is the addition of a Candy Crush-style life system.
Exclusively looking at the gameplay of raging Birds 2, this is the best mad Birds yet. There have been a lot of improvements in the graphics capabilities of mobile devices since raging Birds first appeared in 2009.
Where to even start with an mad Birds 2 review though?
