Madhur Bhandarkar poses with his Calendar girls!
The film’s trailer gives a glimpse of what all goes behind the glossy life of the calendar girls. “In fact, we have not even received a request to recommend issuance of an NOC to it”, claims CBFC Chairman Mobashir Hasan.
The film focuses on five girls, who hail from different regions of India, and have been selected to pose for the country’s popular annual calendar. But dialogues in the trailer like “Pakistani girls are as bold as other girls”.
Ace Director Madhur Bhandarkar’s latest hard hitting realistic movie might have been cleared by Censor Board in India but the movie has just landed in yet another soup, it’s facing trouble with Pakistan release. “In reality typically they’re bolder than the remaining” and a protest scene with individuals shouting slogans like “Pakistani artist return” has brought about a stir, creating hassle for the movie’s launch throughout the border.
The “Fashion” director, however, did not specify the dialogue in his tweet.
However, all the hue and cry seems premature since no Pakistani distributor has shown any interest in releasing the film there. The Pakistani audience isn’t likely to be interested in watching it anyway given that it does not star any known Bollywood actors.
Perhaps, it was all a publicity stunt by the makers of the film to manufacture a controversy and grab some attention. The film is all set to release on 25th September 2015.
Jointly produced by Bhandarkar and Sangeeta Ahir, “Calendar Girls” features Akanksha Puri, Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt and Ruhi Singh, among others.
