Madonna dedicates song to ‘Popey-wopey’ during Philly concert
The star gave her seal of approval to Pope Francis I during a gig in Philadelphia last night, making several references to him throughout the evening – including “I’ve been excommunicated from the Catholic Church three times”. “Either he’s a copycat, or he’s in love with me”. However, she made sure to remind her fans about her tumultuous relationship with the Catholic church before calling the Pope a slightly inappropriate pet name. Pope Francis will be in New York until Saturday morning before making his way to Philadelphia.
While we’re guessing this was the Pope’s first shout-out from Madonna, we also suspect that this was his first tribute from a woman wearing a leotard and fishnet stockings while accompanied onstage by backup “sexy nun” dancers who pole dance on crosses.

The Material Girl told the crowd, “He seems very open minded”, when talking about the Pope.
While donning a sparkly flapper dress, the singer stated “Rules are for fools.
Since Popey-wopey is on his way over here, I want to dedicate this song to him”, said Madonna, before singing La Vie en Rose. “Forward!” – Friday on Rolling Stone’s website.
Madonna, who raised Roman Catholic in Michigan, has a long history of run ins with the Vatican.
She was condemned for her 1990 Blond Ambition tour which included simulated masturbation and was criticised for her 2006 Confessions tour after she staged a mock crucifixion only a few miles from the Vatican City. Most recently, Cristina Scuccia recorded her own version of the 1984 classic “Like A Virgin” past year. The Italian Bishops Conference criticized the songs appearance on the CD, saying it was a commercial ploy.
