Madrid contract for David De Gea revealed by leaks website
Documents have emerged which claim to show that David de Gea would have earned £66.7m over six years had his move from Manchester United to Real Madrid not collapsed last summer.
However despite the paperwork apparently being signed a day in advance of the transfer window closing, the two clubs were unable to finalise the switch before the September 1 deadline.
David de Gea has become the latest player to have had details of a contract revealed by the Football Leaks website.
That figure was made up a weekly salary of €226,000 (£175,500) and a signing bonus of €10.9m (£8.45m).
De Gea is already rumoured to be on a substantial wage package in Manchester, but with Madrid’s financial firepower, it’s clear that they would have been more than willing to boost his earnings.
There is also mention of a break clause of €500m (£388m), which De Gea would have been obliged to pay if he walked out on his contract.
De Gea went on to sign a new deal at Manchester United, and amid a clutch of several fine performances, has gone on record to state his happiness with life at Old Trafford.
Football Leaks – who have so far leaked the contracts of Anthony Martial, Gareth Bale, Mesut Ozil and Falcao and Toni Kroos – have gold hold of De Gea’s contract and have released it on their website.
