Magic get 24 from Oladipo to beat Knicks 100-91

The legend of NY Knicks rookie forward Kristaps Porzingis only gets grander with each passing day.

Coach Scott Skiles informed Oladipo of the lineup change on Tuesday, moving Oladipo from the starting shooting-guard spot to the bench and Channing Frye from the bench to the starting power-forward spot.

Victor Oladipo lost his starting job butstill scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Orlando Magic to a 100-91 victory over the NY Knicks. “After winning two, the two big ones at the front end of the trip, to drop these two I wouldn’t say disappointing but this was a game that I felt like we should have won”. The NY Knicks are averaging 97.6 points on 41.5 percent shooting and allowing 97.7 points on 42.2 percent shooting.

Since the beginning of the season, Skiles has been preaching to the Magic about the need to play better defense both on the ball and when helping teammates.

“(The Magic) made us work for everything we got tonight”, Knicks coach Derek Fisher said.

Magic center Nikola Vucevic had 22 points and 12 rebounds.

“I played against him a few times and we played against each other in Juniors – I remember him from there, ” Porzingis said.

The Magic went on a 8-0 run to start the second quarter and took a double digit lead over the Knicks, 28-17. According to NBA.com lineup data, the five-man unit consisting of Payton, Fournier, Harris, Frye and Vucevic has posted a net rating of plus-26.8 points per 100 possessions in 33 minutes this season.

The long jumper capped a satisfying night for him. “The last couple of games we just haven’t been putting a complete game together”, Anthony said.

“I thought the Magic came out trying to be more physical”, Anthony said. He’s the player that can throw down any putback dunk, the player that can Dream Shake any opponent, and on Wednesday against the Orlando Magic that he will turn away any players who try to dunk on the goal he’s defending.
