‘Magic Mouse 2’ will feature Bluetooth 4.2 says FCC Filings
While it’s unclear whether there’ll be a cosmetic redesign, the filing shows quite a few internal tweaks – Apple/FCC picNEW YORK, August 16 – Apple is tweaking its Magic Mouse and Wireless Keyboard.
Bluetooth 4.2 is much faster, more secure, and power-efficient when compared to previous Bluetooth technologies.
According to recently published papers [1, 2] filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Cupertino company has designed a new version of its Magic Mouse, likely to be called….wait for it….Magic Mouse 2. Although it is being speculated that new keys to support iOS 9, may be included on the keyboard and maybe backlit keys although this has not yet been confirmed by any leaked drawings or by Apple officially as yet.
Apple’s FCC filings are accompanied by documentation which notes that the products provided to the FCC for testing represent “the final version of the equipment as it will be released to the market”. The current generation Magic Mouse and keyboard require you to swap out traditional AA batteries.
A report says that Apple could introduce Force Touch technology in the mouse, allowing it to become a handy accessory when used with desktop Macs to make use of the new gestures in OS X. In other words, it’s a safe bet that we’ll have new accessories come this fall.
