The U.S. Geological Survey says the 3.2 magnitude quake occurred at about 12:40 p.m. about 14 miles east-northeast of Helena in Alfalfa County.
There were no reports of any damage other than sporadic power outages from BGE.
The USGS said it happened at 1:26 p.m. No structural damage or tsunami warnings have been issued as a result of the quake. Twitter user and neighborhood resident Alejandro De La Cruz tweeted: “Living on a hill in the Outer Sunset, I sure felt the hell out of that quake”.
It was about three miles deep.
The quakes come almost a year after a magnitude 6.0 natural disaster struck the region.
Officials say a small natural disaster shook the ground near Crownsville.
