Maguire’s growth has strengthened his push for FSU’s starting QB job
Golson started the first seven games of the season for FSU (7-2, 5-2 ACC) before sitting out of the Syracuse game on October 31 with concussion-like symptoms.
Golson will get the start Saturday against North Carolina State, Brendan Sonnone of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
“This is indicative of what we think we can do best to win the game”.
“This is no knock on Sean or anything else”, Fisher said. Redshirt junior Sean Maguire started the last two weeks and went 1-1 but lost to No. 1 Clemson last week.
“I don’t think he played a great game, I don’t think he played a poor game”.
The Seminoles only scored a field goal in their two trips in the red zone in FSU’s 23-13 loss.
“… What I loved about him, what Sean did in that game, is there was no starry-eyedness”. He has thrown for 1,659 yards with 11 touchdowns. He threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns against Syracuse but was 16 of 29 for 164 yards and an interception against Clemson.
Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher named Golson the starter on Thursday. “There’s a few plays he wish he could’ve made, yes, as there a few plays in the Georgia Tech game Everett did, but it wasn’t just them, we all could’ve made plays”. “The offense looked really, really sharp”.
N.C. State (6-3, 2-3) is led by senior quarterback Jacoby Brissett, a transfer from Florida, who had career-highs of 32-of-48 completions for 397 yards against the Seminoles last season.
