Maine Gov. Paul LePage endorses Trump for president
A newly pugnacious Marco Rubio doubled down in attacking Donald Trump on Friday, calling the brash billionaire a “con artist” as he tried to derail the Republican frontrunner’s presidential aspirations.
Standing next to the property mogul on a stage in Fort Worth, Texas, he said: “I absolutely believe Donald Trump is the best person to be president of the United States”.
Christie had shredded Rubio as a robotic spewer of soundbites in a televised debate in New Hampshire three weeks ago.
Christie’s endorsement was so far the most influential for Trump.
“You don’t need that much, ‘” Trump said.
It was Trump’s biggest endorsement from a mainstream Republican to date.
Marco Rubio took aim at Donald Trump’s manhood during a rally Friday morning, portraying the GOP front-runner as a coward and suggesting he may have wet himself during Thursday night’s presidential debate. “The best person to beat Hilary Clinton in November is undoubtably Donald Trump”.
“He is, looking at the five people on the stage, the clear standout and the person who will do exactly what needs to be done to make America a leader around the world again”.
Since then, Trump has repeatedly said Christie “destroyed” Rubio in a debate and has attempted to brand his rival as a “choke artist”. He was especially scathing in his remarks about Trump when the former Celebrity Apprentice host refused to show up to a Fox News debate.
He called Rubio “this wise guy, this lightweight”.
When he was in the race, Christie aggressively attacked Rubio and Ted Cruz for being junior us senators unready to lead as president.
“I’m not trying to give you hard time about your candidacy, I’m just raising the concerns that a lot of Republicans have because they see you, even though they like you…”
Chris Christie may have dropped out of the race for a nomination earlier this month, but he still has swaying power over his supporters.
“I disavow, OK?” Trump replied.
