Maine man charged in shooting rampage that killed 2 people confessed
Details of that encounter, and others during Lord’s rampage through northern Maine Thursday night and Friday morning were included in court affidavits filed Monday in Aroostook County and Penobscot County superior courts in support of murder and kidnapping charges against Lord.
Investigators say 35-year-old Anthony Lord was arrested without incident Friday at a family member’s home in Houlton.
Lord, who police say has a long criminal record and is a registered sex offender, surrendered peacefully at a relative’s home in Houlton on Friday afternoon following a daylong rampage in an area near the Canadian border best known for potato farms and logging, police said.
Police say Brittany Irish almost got away by flagging down a pickup truck but was abducted after Lord opened fire.
Lord was taken into custody at the home of his uncle, Carl Lord Jr., in Houlton. Kevin Tozier was shot three times in the chest and neck.
In the document, police say Lord confessed to the shootings.
Two other men and one woman were being treated for gunshot wounds and are expected to survive, police said.
State police also are investigating the death of his 6-month-old son, who was discovered unresponsive by his mother in Millinocket in May.

Not long afterward, police said Lord reappeared in a neighboring town where he shot and killed a man, wounded a woman and kidnapped her daughter, 21-year-old Brittany Irish.
Before his arrest, Lord shot people in Benedicta and Lee, police said.
