Majority of Republicans support Trump’s Muslim ban
Even if they weren’t wary of alienating his base of support, Trump feeds off of the antagonism of the Republican establishment.

The Winthrop poll shows that GOP voters in SC are more likely to fear terrorism and more likely to favor creating a national database to track Muslims in the United States.
Thirty percent of Evangelical voters, which make up half of GOP voters in Iowa, now support Cruz.
Cruz was the top “second choice” (22 percent) of all the candidates, followed by Rubio (15 percent), with Carson and Trump tied at 13 percent.
“I don’t think it would be good news for North Carolina”, he says.

Despite Trump’s weak favorability numbers among general election voters, his following within the Republican Party is fiercely loyal.
Today, Cruz spoke about Trump also working in a possible Cruz administration: “There is no doubt that Donald Trump would be a phenomenal negotiator with China and if you look at TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership), I have come out against TPP, it is an incredibly long and complicated mess of a bill”. Bernie Sanders by 20 percentage points.
Four out of 10 Republicans believe that Trump is the most effective candidate to deal with the many issues that the country faces. Cruz’s support in the poll was nonetheless up 12 points since August.
The CNN interview is not the first instance of Carson walking back his policy ideas as he discussed how he would wield government power in the name of national security. “Among voters who were not regular GOP primary voters, however, the poll found Trump ahead, similar to the CNN/ORC poll’s finding”.
The nationwide telephone poll was conducted December 4-8 with 1,053 registered voters, including 431 Republican primary voters and 384 Democratic primary voters.
