Make one teen’s birthday something special by mailing her a card
Rebecca Lyn shared the photo of her cousin, Hallee, who celebrated her 18th birthday alone.
She described her Autistic cousin as a “beautiful young woman, both inside and out”, and now she’s asking the Internet to help celebrate Hallee’s upcoming 19th birthday by sending her b-day cards! “And she had asked me so many times, you know, can you call them? can you go get them?” said Allyson Sorenson.
‘She is a person who just happens to have Autism, ‘ she added.
Last year, Hallee planned a party at a bowling alley but no one showed.
“Hallee is amusing, sweet, caring, smart, and athlete, a jigsaw puzzle champion, a wonderful student, and a best friend to all”, Lyn wrote. She hopes Hallee’s story will serve as a reminder that, no matter who you are or how old you are, every birthday should be a special one.
Lyn then described the scene in the photo: Hallee sitting at her 18th birthday party a year ago, eating birthday cake all by herself.
Hallee Sorenson, of Bangor, Maine, poses for a photo in the Bangor area.
“She’s going to see that a lot of people want to be her friend and want to wish her well”, Guildford said in a phone interview Friday.
Birthday cards can be sent to Hallee Sorenson at 34 Wellesley Way, Bangor, ME, 04401.
“This year we are having a large family party for her. But you can help make this year’s birthday incredible!!”
‘She is a 911 dispatcher so at first she thought just a few policemen and firemen would be able to send Halle a card’.
Have a happy birthday, Hallee!
She told WGGB she’s “been so moved by the outpouring of support”.
Plans for a bigger, private birthday party with family next month are in the works. “She was heartbroken and beyond sad”.
