Malaysian PM Najib Razak says, Narendra Modi is a man of action
Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday left for Singapore after wrapping up his three-day visit to Malaysia during which he attended the Asean and East Asia Summits besides holding talks with his Malaysian counterpart.
Modi’s trip to Malaysia comes five years after his predecessor Manmohan Singh’s visit and elevated ties to a strategic partnership. Modi and Razak also jointly inaugurated a Torana Gate, a traditional gateway to Hindu and Buddhist temples, at Bricksfield locality in Kuala Lumpur, also known as Little India.
During a joint press conference, the Indian Prime Minister also highlighted the two country’s economic partnership and India’s hope for “an early conclusion of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement”.
India, he said, is the fastest growing economy in the world, with a stable polity and offering “ample scope for investment”. Later in the day, the Indian prime minister held a meeting with corporate Malaysia.
Malaysia’s Performance Management and Delivery Unit will work with the National Institution for Transforming India on project management. “The two prime ministers welcomed the significant interest shown by Malaysian companies to partake in the business opportunities provided by India and their aspiration to invest in infrastructure projects”, the joint statement said.
“We will also make our defence cooperation stronger, including for advancing maritime security and strengthening disaster response in our region”. “This is a great contribution to an important aspect of our global efforts against this challenge”.
“PM Modi has indicated his desire for a G-to-G arrangement between India and Malaysia for the construction of a convention centre in Delhi.Mr. Modi is a man of action, he wants things to be implemented expeditiously, he has proven track record as chief minister and now as Prime Minister”, he added.
