Mamadou Sakho: ‘Man United players were shouting at each other at half
Morgan Schneiderlin has explained that Manchester United’s disappointing first-half display during their clash with bitter rivals Liverpool led to a heated exchange between the players at the break, the Daily Star reports.
But despite the ecstasy at the final whistle, United’s players had spent half-time arguing with each other in the dressing room, with Sakho saying Liverpool’s first-half display had left their opponents rattled.
The summer signing took to Twitter to send a message to the Liverpool trio on social media ahead of Sunday afternoon’s early kick-off at Anfield.
“In the second half we did what we had to do”.
The Red Devils were disappointing during the first 45 minutes at Anfield, and the Frenchman explained that the frustrations boiled over once they returned to the dressing room.
He told French TV channel Canal+: “United were lucky today and they know it. We could hear them shouting in dressing room at half-time”.
In the second half we did what we had to do.
“We started 2016 very good with a lot of wins – this game will give a big boost to the players and the fans and the environment of Manchester United”. “We scored one goal, stayed strong and, at the end, it is three points which is awesome”. We could feel it was a special moment and we are very happy to finish with the win.
United came out in the second half and scored against the run of play, Wayne Rooney finding the net with a shot that was the sole effort on target by Louis van Gaal’s men.
The win at Anfield moved United up a place in the Premier League table to fifth and to within two points of the Champions League places.
