Braxton Rocha of Kapaau, Hawaii was spearfishing approximately 60 yards off the coast on Sunday afternoon when a 13-foot tiger shark bit him on the leg. Luckily, he had a crew of friends there to save him. “Love you too, brah”, Rocha replies before the clip ends.
On the Big Island, a 27-year-old man is recovering after he was bitten by a shark. He was able to swim to shore and alerted his fishing companion who called 911.
Emergency personnel took the man to Kamehameha Park, where he was picked up by a helicopter and flown to North Hawaii Hospital. His condition is not immediately known.
The attack marked the fourth shark injury in Hawaii in 2015, all of which occurred in turbid waters.
‘WOO, I just got attacked by a tiger shark!’ says Rocha in the video.
So far this year, there have been four shark-related incidents in Hawaii, including a fatal one in Maui waters.
