Man arrested after pharmacist stabbed in Drogheda shop
A young pharmacist has been brutally attacked in a stabbing incident in the pharmacy where he works.
A pharmacist is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in a shop Drogheda on Tuesday.
The attack took place at a chemist on Scarlet Street in the Co Louth town at around 8.30am.
It is understood the injured man, who is in his 30s, is a pharmacist.
Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s close to the scene in relation to the incident.
He has been detained at Dundalk Garda Station.
He will appear before Dundalk District Court today.
“Our thoughts are with our colleague, his family and the wider pharmacy community in Drogheda and we wish him a speedy recovery”, said Mr Connolly.
According to an IPU survey published earlier this year, three-quarters (75%) of pharmacists in Ireland have been victims of crime, including shoplifting, robbery and raids.
