Man arrested in stabbing death at NoMa Metro
A man was stabbed to death Saturday on a train on the Metro Red Line, the Washington D.C. police said.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Monday that detectives have made an arrest in connection with the death of the ex- intern, Kevin Sutherland. He was charged with “Murder I While Armed”, according to police information. He left and was arrested by police about five minutes later and charged with a felony.

Police had issued a wanted poster on Sunday naming him the suspect, and Lanier said police considered him so unsafe that she had the fliers distributed to every patrol officer and ordered dispatchers to broadcast a description every two hours.
“Kevin Sutherland was truly the best of us”, Sasha Gilthorpe, president of the American University Student Government, said in a statement on Facebook.
Along with politics, Sutherland loved photography, videography and technology, and ran a website where he showcased his work.
The Washington man who was fatally stabbed Saturday afternoon at the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro station has been identified as a recent American University graduate and a ex- member of the student government.
At the time of his death, Sutherland was working as a digital political strategist at New Blue Interactive, a Democratic fundraising firm.
Am absolutely heartbroken by the tragic loss of intern, staffer & wonderful friend, Kevin Sutherland. “He was incredibly kind”. “We are heartbroken to hear of his passing. He used his intelligence and his talents to champion what he believed in”.
