Man banned from Starbucks after calling out customers
“I regret to inform you you’ve been expelled from Starbucks”, Rowen reads from the letter. Lugging in your entire PC? According to Bay News 9, he began addressing people who were illegally parked in spaces reserved for handicapped drivers.
Rob Rowen says when he would spot someone illegally parked in a handicapped spot he would use his cellphone to take a picture of their auto and then confront them in the store.
According to Rowen, some customers would agree and move, but others complained to the Starbucks manager that he was harassing them for using the spot.
If you’re wondering why Rowen is so passionate since he’s not handicapped, he says it’s personal. “I threatened to embarrass him by telling everybody he was parked illegally”, Rowen said.
“I care because I have a big heart”.
Rowen started standing up for those who couldn’t asking the law-breaking Starbucks customers to move. “I’m a regular customer and I’m trying to help you protect your other customers who might not be able to park anywhere else”.
After the confrontation with the manager, Rowen said he “left it alone”.
“Their response was go back to the manager, and the manager’s bottom line was you’re harassing people”, says Rowen.
Rowen’s complaints about the letter have caught the attention of local news outlets, and Starbucks has released a message regarding the controversial decision.

Rowen will now be getting his coffee – elsewhere. Unfortunately, he became confrontational toward other customers, and we have asked him to refrain from visiting the store. “It is our goal to provide a warm, friendly and positive experience for all of our customers”. Starbucks issued a statement saying, in part: “We are working with the landlord of the property where this store is located to improve the parking situation”.
