Man Burns Down Gas Pump Trying to Kill Spider

A man miraculously escaped serious injury despite setting a gas station on fire in an attempt to kill a spider that was near his gas cap. According to CBS Detroit, the man was filling up his vehicle when he saw a spider on the gas tank and decided to try to burn it with his lighter.

FOX 2 News reports the man was not injured, and only his auto and the gas pump were damaged by the fire.

He quickly grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and put out the flames before firefighters were called to the scene. He told authorities he spotted a spider on his gas tank and pulled out his lighter to get rid of it, the station said.

Adams said this serves as a reminder about being careful around gas pumps.

After being questioned by fire investigators though, the man cracked and admitted his 8-legged mistake.

“He was sorry”, Susan said.
