Man charged in stabbing death of actor’s step-granddaughter
Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter Edena Hines, who was 33, was found by New York police early Sunday in a street outside of her Manhattan Washington Heights apartment with at least 16 stab wounds, said law enforcement.
Though Freeman and Hines were not blood related, the two remained close as she was the granddaughter of the 78-year-old’s first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw. His name, condition and any relationship to Hines was not released and the stabbing remains under investigation, he said.
Hines’ death emerges three years after Freeman famously slammed reports suggesting they were romantically involved amid false claims they were preparing to Wednesday, blasting the allegations as “defamatory fabrications”.
New York Police Officer Chris Pisano revealed that Davenport has been charged with second-degree murder, and is expected to be arraigned later on Monday. We’ll have to wait and see what was really behind Hines’s horrific death.
“I heard the him say something like ‘devil be gone, Jesus and God, ‘” said witness George Hudacko.
“He was like kneeling over her, screaming about God has arisen I mean he was totally off the ranch”, one witness, Patrick Curry, told Reuters.
“The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer”, Freeman said in a statement.
Police responded to a 911 call at about 3 a.m. on Sunday. He concluded that her star would shine bright in our thoughts, prayers and heart. “Finding a lack of opportunity she decided to turn her sights to teaching under-exposed youth in her native Memphis, TN”, Hines’ website states.
Davenport was taken into custody and the knife was recovered at the scene, authorities said. “May she rest in peace”.
He also tweeted: “I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter E’Dena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart”, he wrote on Facebook.
