Man charged with ‘road rage murder’ of Donald Lock
Police were given until midnight tonight to continue questioning a man aged 34 over the killing of 79-year-old Donald Lock, who was apparently stabbed more than 20 times.
Grandfather Mr Lock, 79, is believed to have crashed into another auto before being stabbed to death in a road rage attack on Thursday evening.
He was a veteran of the town’s Excelsior cycling club, still cycling up to 150 miles a week, and was looking forward to becoming a great-grandfather for the sixth time.
A manhunt has been launched after a driver got out of his auto and stabbed another motorist to death after a vehicle collision.
“Realives said in a statement: “(Don) still holds the club record for the 24-hour time trial having remained unbeaten for 44 years.
His son continued saying that he had cycled from Lands’ End to John O’Groats for charity and had been a lifelong supporter of Brighton and Hove Albion, holding a season ticket this year.
Tributes have poured in over the weekend for Don – who was a keen cyclist – with his wife paying tribute to her husband of 55 years while laying flowers at the place he died.
“We will be working hard to support mum Maureen through the unenviable grieving process and just remember dad for the fantastic person he was”.
Mr Lock leaves son Andrew, daughter Sandra, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, with the sixth great-grandchild due later this year.
A 34-year-old Worthing man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering him on Thursday (July 17).
“He was hugely loved by his family and friends and could often be called upon for his cycling or travel advice”. He renewed his appeal for information and thanked the public and media for their help with investigation.
“You will be truly missed by so many people”. He wouldn’t have got out of the vehicle and caused any trouble at all.
“His family are devastated by his murder and are being supported by specialist officers”. We can only say thank you to you and they are very much appreciated.
