Man charged with second-degree murder of mother

Police responded to calls about a disturbance on Southfork Drive, in the area of Terry Fox Way and Bristol Road West, at approximately 5:45 p.m.

The woman was sent to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and that now marks Peel Region’s 13th homicide of the year.

Police say a 41-year-old woman is dead and her son is charged with second-degree murder after a domestic incident Saturday night. Police have not released the specific nature of her injuries.

Bhavan is expected to appear in a Brampton court later today for a bail hearing.

KUNAL Bhavan, 20, has been charged with the second-degree murder of his mother, Vaishali Patel, 41, of Mississauga, Ontario.

Police say the victim and the accused are known to each other.
