Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini unfazed by Pep Guardiola rumours
Before accepting to take on the mantle at the German club, Guardiola was on a year hiatus from football coaching.
Spanish radio station Cadena Cope revealed that Ancelotti “has confirmed to Bayern Munich that he’ll take over from Pep Guardiola” despite interest from Manchester United.
Last night club representatives were finalising a deal to bring in 69-year-old Guus Hiddink until the end of the season, after Abramovich made a rare appearance at training yesterday to address the squad ahead of today’s game against Sunderland.
For me it’s not important.
“The thing with Manchester United is that he will go to one Premier League team and won’t be going to another [after that]”, he told The Guardian.
The Spaniard’s three-year contract expires next June and Bayern’s head coach has said he will announce “before Christmas” whether he will extend his stay or leave, with Manchester City among the English sides keen to secure his services.
City are third in the Premier League table and remain favourites to win the title and Pellegrini acknowledged that returning the trophy to the Etihad Stadium would make him more hard to dismiss.
“There are rumours, speculation about what he wants to do”.
But stories linking City with the former Barcelona coach are not new – and even predate Pellegrini’s appointment in 2013 – and the Chilean has never let them bother him.
“I think as Pep Guardiola is saying he is leaving maybe Roman Abramovich has thought we’d try our hardest to get him in”, Roberts, reacting to Mourinho’s sacking, said on BBC Radio 5 live. He has been successful everywhere, has won the Champions League three times.
Graham spoke on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast about what he gathered from Guardiola’s entourage, going on to explain the manager’s wish to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich.
“I think all the fans have been right behind my work since I came here, I never hear any complaints from the fans”.
Pellegrini’s fate appears to be out of his hands.
José Mourinho is among those who Ferdinand believes would jump at any chance to revive United’s fortunes.
“The pressure when I started as a manager was much higher because I can not lose now that I am at the end of my career”, Van Gaal said.
