Man City boss Pellegrini: Inter Milan move right decision for Jovetic
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been explaining his reasons for allowing Stevan Jovetic to leave for Inter, insisting the striker “had to go”. There were reports earlier on in the summer stating that Liverpool might be interested in signing the Montenegrin, but Jovetic has instead preferred a move to back to the Serie A, where he made his name.
After scoring 27 goals in the final two seasons of a five-year spell with ‘La Viola’ Fiorentina, Jovetić moved to City in 2013 in a deal reportedly worth around £22million to the Florence club.
He repeated the phrase in Italian and copied in Inter’s official account.
Jovetic, 25, overcame the tests without any surprises – despite his poor injury record over the last two years with City – and was pictured being tailored for his club suit.
Jovetic has endured a miserable time in Manchester since joining Pellegrini’s side from Fiorentina in 2013.
He has been plagued by injuries and a loss of form and managed just 11 goals in 44 games for the Citizens. Also, with Liverpool signing Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, it was very likely that they would go for him.
