Man City’s Aguero banned for four matches after Luiz tackle
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insists his side are on the right track despite a disciplinary crisis that includes a ban for star striker Sergio Aguero.
Red cards were dished out to Aguero and as Manchester City lost their heads against the impressive English Premier League leaders.
“They showed me great character”, the former Italy global said.
Conte, who retired from professional football in 2004, often takes part in his training sessions and today he demonstrated how he’s still got it.
While the talent and goalscoring ability of Sergio Aguero have never been called into question, one facet of his game that has now come under further scrutiny is his tendency to lash out.
Asked for his verdict on Aguero’s challenge, Chelsea defender Luiz told Sky Sports: “I don’t like to speak about these type of things”.
“When I win I’m happier than when I lose, of course, but I’m enjoying it”.
Fernandinho was also sent off for shoving Fàbregas during the incident, with City’s Brazilian midfielder banned for three matches.
That would see the Argentina worldwide sit out league fixtures against Leicester, Watford, Arsenal and Hull.
Fernandinho was then seen refusing to go down the tunnel and having to be restrained by team-mates and City officials.
The late scuffles marred what had been a compelling contest, albeit one that had seen emotions run high throughout.
“But the Premier League is different but in order for him to really impose his style, he’ll be looking to get a few more players in that can really function and provide the foundations to how he wants to work”.
City created numerous chances but found the net only through a Gary Cahill own goal.
Arsene Wenger’s side struck in the 24th minute when Angelo Ogbonna was caught in possession and Alexis Sanchez seized on the loose ball to set up Mesut Ozil, who tapped into the empty net.
Chelsea’s eighth successive league victory condemned Guardiola to a first defeat at Eastlands, where his side have now gone four home games without a win.
Luiz said: “Yes, it is very nice but the league hasn’t finished yet”. Every single match is hard.
We created a lot [against Chelsea] but the problem is you have to put the ball inside. “I think it wasn’t the reason why”. We have to stay in this position. “Now we have to continue”, he concluded.
