MAN Director Reveals Peter Parker’s Age
The character, played by British Actor Tom Holland will first appear in next years Captain America: Civil War alongside most of the existing cast of the MCU, which will be driected by the Russo Brothers.
Luckily director Jon Watts has finally spoken out and set the record straight on what age 19-year-old Tom Holland will have to pretend to be as he puts on the Spidey suit. Said Watts, There are only so many times that you can kill Uncle Ben.
“I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high-school movie…We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now.”
“Spider-Man” is being written by Francis Daley and Jonathan M Goldstein and is directed by Jon Watts.
The take might be new, but it is not completely surprising for Marvel, since Peter Parker has always been featured as a high school student struggling to balance his life as a masked superhero and a teenager. However, some of it has been concerningly obsessive, as if one year on the calendar in one direction or another is going to somehow greatly impact who Peter Parker is in this version. It is official that the new Spider-Man will be a mere 15-years-old, and it’s also confirmed that this will not be another origin story. Spider-Man might have a role to play in the future Avengers, considering his teaser in “Ant-Man”.
“Tom was pretty ideal “, Watts says of the casting. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has his vision for “Spider-Man“.
The latest incarnation of the Marvel favourite will debut in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, opposite established stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. The standalone film of Spidey will be released in theaters sometime in 2017.
