Man drives van carrying ammunition over Missouri field fire
A Clay County, Mo. man was apparently burning garbage in his field Tuesday afternoon and found himself unable to contain it.
A Missouri man used a van filled with ammunition to try to snuff out a blaze in an open field – but managed to get out of way when the firepower ignited, authorities said. Since he didn’t want to import the wildfires raging on the West coast to Kansas, he decided he needed to put it out quickly.
Liberty and Fishing River Firefighters were able to put the fire out safely.
The entire explosive incident was a ideal metaphor for the dynamics of social media.
This maneuver only caused his van tires to catch on fire.
When the driver realized his huge error in judgment, he bailed from the auto and retreated to a safe location.
About this time, as the van owner watched his vehicle full of bullets go up in flames, a deputy arrived, who had been in the middle of a traffic stop when he saw the smoke.
Liberty Fire Department responded to make sure the fire did not spread.
Sheriff’s deputies say the man was not cited and did not ask for a police report to be filed.
