Man From Northern Ireland Found Dead In Ibiza
Heartbroken friends of a young Newtownabbey man who died at the weekend while on holiday in Ibiza have set up a JustGiving page to raise money towards the cost of his funeral.
It is understood Mr Drennan had sent “Snapchat” social media images of his flight to Ibiza on Saturday but concern was later raised by his family in Co Antrim when they did not receive an expected text.
Alan Drennan was discovered in his hotel bedroom on Sunday, having flown to the Mediterranean party island the day before as part of a large group. The cause of his death is not yet known, though it was reported that Mr Drennan’s family was expecting to find out more about the circumstances of the tragedy today. They are waiting for an autopsy to be carried out, reports the BBC.
It is believed that Mr Drennan had been from the Glengormley area, just to the north of Belfast, and had attended the town’s high school.
He said he appreciated everyone’s thoughts and prayers and their respect for his brother.
Family and friends have paid tribute to him.
“He was one of a kind and it’s nice to see so many think so highly of him”.
“This page has been set up to help Verona and Alan (Alan’s parents) as much as possible throughout this nightmare”.
‘The amount of memories that I’ll hold on to for the rest of my life.
A spokesperson for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the death and said it was liaising with the Spanish authorities.
