Man goes missing in lake; jumped in to save son
While the boat was stopped, a ten year old boy slipped beneath the water and the father jumped in to save him. A search for Robertson had been underway, after he jumped into the lake when his 10-year-old son fell into the water trying to climb into the family’s pontoon boat.
The 10-year-old was able to swim to a shallow point of the lake and was brought to safety by local officials. The search was suspended Wednesday night, and officials said it was expected to resume Thursday morning. Robertson and minor child were reported missing around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The body of 45-year-old Norman Robertson of Maryland was recovered from Shawano Lake at about 7:55 a.m. after being spotted from the air, according to a news release from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, Shawano Fire Department and the Shawano County Dive Rescue Team all took part in the response.
“He always tried to do fun things with his kids”.
Neighbors said Robertson, a psychiatrist who worked in Rockville, also cared for his elderly father.
